主讲人简介：

Dr. LiyingXu is an interdisciplinary scholar with strong backgrounds in the areas of both engineering and economic evaluation and management. The career goal of Dr. Xu is to join her efforts to meet the increasing needs of improving energy production and decision-making in an uncertain world and to shape a better future society with secure and sustainable global energy supplies. Her interest was inspired by her original perspective on the importance and the great needs of integrating economics and business knowledge into petroleum engineering during her ten years of research experience in SINOPEC, China. The interdisciplinary needs have been more and more obvious and vital in current world economy and are extending into the areas such as the utilization of unconventional energy resources.

To pursue her career goal, Dr. Xu entered the PhD program in the department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin - the number one program in the US, pioneered and ventured her interdisciplinary PhD degree, and prepared herself in all the disciplines necessary to evaluate and manage uncertainty and risk in energy exploration, development, and production, including Petroleum Engineering, Economics, Finance, Energy and Mineral Resource (EMR) - Economics and Management. The topic of her interdisciplinary PhD dissertation is the application of real options to the valuation and decision-making in petroleum E&P industry. The paper was presented at 2012 SPE Hydrocarbon Economics and Evaluation Symposium (HEES).

Dr. Xu received awards including the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Fellowship, Washington State University Summer Doctoral Fellows, Washington State University Advance Excellence in Science and Engineering award, and SPE Star Academic Fellowship in Mid-Continent North America Region. Dr. Xu, called interdisciplinary specialist, will make unique contributions as she has promised.
